The Coalition provides professionally trained interpreters to local health centers, the Columbus Health Department, mental health service providers and other local social service providers. The Interpreter Services was established in 2000 in collaboration with other immigrant serving community-based organization. Standards for interpretation were developed and accepted by the Columbus Health Commission. Today, the coalition provides training and education on the standards, the mode and roles interpreters.
The Ohio Hispanic Coalition currently has professionally trained interpreters for over 50 languages. They are available 24/7/365 for on-site interpretation and conference calls.
